I showed a foreclosure home this morning. You never know what you’re going to get, with a foreclosure. Some of them are fine, just like any other resale home. However, some of them are disasters. This one isn’t in terrible condition and the price is certainly good, but I couldn’t recommend that my clients consider buying it. Sad to say, once it’s been repaired and updated, it still won’t be wonderful.
The original home was built in 1976 and then the owner or owners added onto it in strange ways. The floor plan is awkward at best. Also, the various additions looked like DIY workmanship, not done to a contractor’s standards.
Moral to the story — If you don’t know what you’re doing, maybe you shouldn’t do it without professional help. That applies to the design of a room addition as much as to the construction.
